Dear users,
We wanted to report back to you what happened in the last days due to a cyber attack to the Geofon server. The attack was detected some days ago before it could bring any complications to our services. Our IT Department and our National Internet Provider (DFN) took some safety measures to protect not only Geofon, but also the infrastructure above (i.e. GFZ and DFN). During the next days, different mitigation techniques were put in production, what reduced the load of the attack at all levels. Unfortunately, some of these filters affected seriously the users of our different services. Different configurations were tested until the situation was stable. Since this afternoon, we should be operating exactly as we did before the attack.
We also would like to comment that the services and servers at Geofon were not compromised at all in any moment. The problems were mostly during the establishment of the connection.
We want to thank you all for your patience and comprehension, as well as the IT Team that helped to solve all these issues. We will be monitoring our operation in the next days. Do not hesitate to contact us if you experience any problem from this moment on.
